CCC: Raisin Bran Crunch – Review
December 4, 2020
Straight from Grandma’s cupboard, Raisin Bran is usually not a very popular cereal among the kiddos. Consisting of both raisins and whole grain bran flakes, there’s not many cereals that scream “old person” as much as Kellogg’s Raisin Bran. While it may not be a childhood favorite, it’s a delicious cereal that is an acquired taste.
As life progresses your tastes will change and mature, and one day, you’ll wake up, pour yourself a bowl of Raisin Bran, just so you won’t have to look at the box anymore, and realize that it’s a super delicious cereal. It’s sweet, satisfying, and provides a nice start to the morning.
It can be difficult to improve on an already fantastic product but leave it to Kellogg’s to do exactly that with this version of Raisin Bran, Raisin Bran Crunch. Everything that was fantastic about the original cereal, but even better. It seems unlikely that such a small change can make all the difference, but trust me, this does.
The small addition of crunchy oat clusters mixed in with the usual raisins and bran flakes adds so much to your breakfast! The classic cereal sweetness and complexity is enhanced and improved and leaves me opting for this over the original.
The original version of Raisin Bran was first released to the public by Kellogg’s in 1926, and this Crunch version was released much later, in 1999. Other varieties of this cereal have also been released since the original including Raisin Bran Vanilla Almond, Raisin Bran with Bananas, and Raisin Bran with Cranberries.
The box design is still the usual purple Raisin Bran color scheme with the sun mascot that is synonymous with the cereal. The only real change is the addition of the Crunch graphic emblazon across the front. It’s nothing super unique, but what’s inside it definitely is.
The original Raisin Bran is a hefty cereal weighing in at 190 calories and 17 grams of sugar per one cup serving. Raisin Bran Crunch is also 190 calories per cup but adds an extra two grams of sugar. Is it worth the extra two grams? Yes. Yes, it is.
Upon first glance and spoon of this cereal, you may not notice a difference from the original at first. However, once you get one of those delicious little oat clusters on your spoon, it’s a whole different experience. These clusters add so much flavor and so much texture that it’s a complete game changer. The complex texture and flavor make this bowl of cereal so much better; words simply can’t describe it. You just need to experience it for yourself.
The chewy raisins, crisp, sweet flakes, and crunchy oats make each spoon unique and delicious. I highly recommend this cereal to anyone with a refined taste and love for complex flavors, textures, and experiences. This is simply fantastic.

Hello! I believe one of the main reasons people eat this cereal is because of the benefit fiber has on the digestive tract. Same reason old people drink coffee after meals. : ) I know the regular Raisin Bran has more fiber than the RB Crunch. I’m eating the latter now, and it has 4g of fiber. Thank you for writing this article; it was the first one to pop up on Google.

Yeah, this is the second or third time over the last few years that my wife has bought this crunchy version by mistake. I’m eating it for my health I don’t really want two more of g of sugar and I do want more fiber.
I don’t like it nearly as much as real Raisin Bran and I certainly would never buy it myself. Maybe I’ll get her to read the label someday.
