Weird and Wacky Traveling Facts
During the winter holidays, an estimated 47.5 million passengers traveled on U.S. airlines. If you have flown recently, the memory of the much-dreaded TSA security check is fresh in your mind. It unites travelers from all walks of life in wondering just what is allowed in a carry on bag. Or as the case may be, what isn’t allowed in a carry on bag?
As you pack your bag, you may find yourself checking the TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” website. Like other corners of the internet, once you’re there, you may find it hard to leave. As it turns out, some truly bizarre items are allowed in our carry on luggage.
A tattoo gun is allowed on a plane. For when you are delayed and decide you want a tattoo to pass the time? Bowling balls are also permitted, which could be very dangerous if they were to get loose during turbulence! On a side note, you’re allowed to bring your own parachute, so you may be able to save yourself if the plane goes down.
When it comes to live lobster, you need to check with your specific airline, but live fish are okay! Shockingly, shock collars are allowed, perhaps for those out of control passengers?
In addition, you can bring an air mattress with a built-in pump on the plane. This might come in helpful if you have a long layover between flights!
Feel free to use an artificial skeleton bone to pull a prank on the flight crew or your fellow passengers, though I wouldn’t want to the passenger who has to wait while the TSA agent figures out if it’s fake or not.
If you have a rip on your clothing, have no fear; you can bring your sewing machine to fix that rip real quick.
With all these items allowed on a plane, isn’t it strange that they still make us take off our shoes when going through security?
