Art transforms everything, at least at the Myrna Loy in Helena. The Myrna is one of the best places to see entertainment ranging from movies that rarely make it to bigger theatres, to some great live music. Numerous bands and films have been presented in this venue for the public to see at an affordable price. This place will keep you on your toes for what they have to show next. 

This week, The Myrna Loy will be presenting a film called The Lighthouse directed by Robert Eggers. This brand new film looks like it has a lot to offer, toting a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (as of the time this article was published) and a 8.1/10 score from IMDb. The movie features two men in a lighthouse trying to maintain their sanity as the horrors of the night creep in. Coming out of A24 films, it’s fair to say it won’t be your average blockbuster. A24 is an entertainment company that keeps a reputation in putting out great films that are out of the ordinary. Some of the companies films include Hereditary, Midsommar, and Moonlight, all boasting solid reviews and always including unique cinematography. Robert Eggers, a name that is new to the directing scene definitely blew this one out of the water. With only two movies under his belt, he seems to shatter expectations. The Lighthouse stars Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson and is a film you definitely don’t want to miss.

If you’re going to go to a movie this weekend, consider going to the Myrna. Tickets are cheaper compared to Cinemark and there is not a bad seat in the theatre. Plus, snacks are more affordable. “It really sucks at Cinemark because if you’re getting a large popcorn, a box of candy, and a large soda, it usually would add up to $20. If you really wanna go all out I’m pretty sure it would be like $10 to get the whole package at the Myrna,” said Austin Giarde, a staff member at the Myrna Loy. If you’ve never gone to they Myrna, you should stop in soon. Once you walk in it has a wonderful aesthetic that stands out from other theatres. The theatre itself is small, but it provides great sound and atmosphere for the whole audience to enjoy. So, if you are thinking about going to see a movie this weekend, try going to The Myrna Loy, you won’t regret it.
