What’s Making Us Happy This Month

I am writing this the day before spring break starts, and all day I have just been in a great mood and everything is making me happy. I was driving to school, the sky was blue, and I was just so happy to be awake during such a pretty day. In general I love the spring and summer months, so it is making me so happy to get to enjoy the spring and summer weather now. Also, I am dedicating a day this weekend to making my grandmother cookies. I was hoping to go over to her house and make her cookies last weekend, but I was swamped with work and had to reschedule. SoACT prep now comes absolutely last this spring break if my wonderful grandmother does not have delicious chocolate chip cookies before I start studying. Remember everyonein twenty years you probably won’t remember your score on the ACT, but you will for sure remember spending time with your favorite people. So go bake some cookies and enjoy being with the people you care about!

This last Sunday, March 7th, was National Cereal Day (AKA the greatest day of the year) and I celebrated in a very epic way: I consumed cereal for/with every meal/snack all day that day. I kicked off my morning with a nice, simple bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats Pecan & Maple Brown Sugar cereal, which I highly recommend by the way because it’s delicious, and thus began my cereal extravaganza. I baked Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch Sugar Cookies, infusing Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch cereal from Christmas time into a scratch made sugar cookie batter, and topping it with more cereal. I also snacked on various cereals throughout the day, as the avid snacker I am, in the forms of Rice Krispies Treats and grab-and-go cereal snack pouches. For lunch, I made myself a classic “Elvis Sandwich” with a cereal twist. If you aren’t familiar with an Elvis Sandwich, it’s “the sandwich that killed Elvis,” because it was his favorite snack, and it’s made up of peanut butter, banana, honey, and bacon on toasted bread. My sandwich was banana, honey, bacon, and Peanut Butter Chex cereal on toasted bread, and of course I had a side of Traditional Chex Mix to go with it. For dinner, as the professional chef that I am, made my family and I Cornflake Crusted Chicken Tenders with a side of Cornflake Veggie Casserole. Boneless, skinless chicken breast tenderloins coated in a spice mixture and a crushed Kellogg’s Cornflake breading, and then baked in the oven, with a side of broccoli florets, diced potatoes, chopped onion, and Cornflakes in a creamy, celery soup-based sauce with crushed Cornflake crumb topping on top was the perfect dinner to conclude this amazing day. That’s easily what’s making me most happy this week as I still find myself looking back on it and drooling over all that cereal I got to eat.

I am glad to say that I will be releasing a single soon called “AJUMP.” It’s a sequel to the song I talked about last week, titled, “ATRIP.” I was sitting in my room last weekend, bored out of my mind and something in me wanted to see if I could get the mic to work with Ableton. The problem I’ve been having is that the monitoring of my voice was on time with the song but the input delay was making my vocal takes off time. I figured out a new feature within the software called track delay and learned how to make my takes on time, and they’re sounding good. With the mic on a suitable delay, I started recording vocals to some of my songs. I am happy to say that “AJUMP” has all natural instruments, recorded right out of my basement. I swear it just came to me and it’s the best hook I’ve ever made in my whole life and I’m not joking. Things are looking even more up from the beginning of this whole pandemic, and the negative domino affect it causes. The nice part about “AJUMP” is the fact that it is school appropriateand the words still have a deep meaning. I am excited to show everyone what I have to offer with this track.

Currently making me happy is new Taylor Swift music. She released “All Over Me” with Marren Morris and it is the perfect example of mature indie Taylor meets Fearless country Taylor. Last night, I fell into a YouTube hole of re-watching Taylor Swift music videos and live performances and was reminded of my infinite love for her. Also, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier episode two was released and that is also making me happy because it is SO GOOD. Also, I’m not even a huge Dua Lipa fan and even less of a DaBaby fan, however, I cannot get their song “Levitating” out of my head and have been playing it on repeat all week. Also, last night, Conan Gray and Olivia Rodrigo posted a picture together of them listening to “All Over Me” and that patched my soul because I love them as artists, and I obviously love Taylor Swift and they are like two of the biggest Swifities and I love them for loving Taylor Swift. Did that make sense? In conclusion, Taylor Swift will always make me happy.

Having something to look forward to always makes me a little happier, and this month I’ve been excited for spring break. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been on a trip (thanks, covid!), so being able to go somewhere warm for a week is bringing me a lot of joy. Thankfully my parents are vaccinated, and I’ve received my first vaccine dose, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can stay safe.
